Heatwave warning issued in Tarai districts

The Weather Forecasting Division has warned all to take safety measures in the Tarai belt as heat wave or loo and its subsequent effects are forecast and the weather condition is likely to affect life for the next five days.

The WFD under Department of Hydrology and Meteorology issuing a special bulletin saying that maximum and minimum temperature has exponentially grown in the Tarai belt, which has caused the heat wave.

It said that hot and dry conditions will continue for the next five days. Today alone, maximum temperature of over 40 degrees Celsius was observed in seven Tarai districts. Similarly, temperature in 17 tarai districts have crossed warning level as per MFD.

'The study and analysis of lower and upper atmospheric pressure shows that this year's monsoon is not likely to enter the country anytime soon. This means heatwave and loo will continue to prevail in the southern plains of the country for additional five days,' the MFD said.
