Rajesh Kumar Agrawal elected to lead CNI

KATHMANDU, JUNE 25

Rajesh Kumar Agrawal has been elected the president of Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) during its 20th annual general meeting.

Agrawal, who previously served as the senior vice-president of CNI, has been associated with the confederation for over two decades and has held various positions within the organisation.

Born in Kathmandu, Agrawal has been involved in the business sector since 1992 and is currently an executive director of the RMC Group. His business interests span sectors such as cement, steel, and food processing.

Bishnu Kumar Agrawal, the outgoing president, handed over the responsibilities to the newly elected president.

The AGM in Kathmandu also saw the election of several members to the National Council. The elected members include Sanjay Golchha, Raj Bahadur Shah, Bidushi Rana, Ajit Bikram Shah, Hem Raj Dhakal, Ashish Agrawal Jajodia, Manish Khemka, Dwiraj Sharma (Siwakoti), Dhruva Prasad Rijal, Barsha Shrestha, Hitesh Golchha, Ashish Garg, Sapna Sapkota, and Birendra Raj Pandey.

Additionally, Laxmi Prasad Subedi, Gokul Bhandari, Sandip Sharada, Mohit Kedia, Amit Mor, Amit Kumar Begani, Chandr Tandan, Rohit Gupta, Nirvana Chaudhary, Varun Kumar Todi, Rahul Kumar Agrawal, Saurabh Sharad Kumar Tivadewala, Bikram Singhania, Milan Babu Malla, Deepak Agrawal, Bishal Agrawal, Dilip Agrawal, Gopal Kumar Agrawal, and Aditya Sanghai were elected as well.

Furthermore, seven vice-presidents were elected from the members of the National Council. They include Nirvana Chaudhary, Birendra Raj Pandey, Raj Bahadur Shah, Hem Raj Dhakal, Rohit Gupta, Amit Mor, and Bhim Ghimire.

Among them, Amit Mor and Bhim Ghimire were elected as vice presidents for the first time.

CNI President Agrawal administered the oath of office to the vice presidents and members of the National Council.

In assuming his role as the CNI President, Agrawal expressed his commitment to further elevating CNI's achievements and addressing the challenges faced by the private sector, such as frequent policy changes, high interest rates, decreased production, declining morale, and new investment plans.

He also extended congratulations to the outgoing president Bishnu Kumar Agrawal for his successful tenure.

During the AGM, awards were presented in various categories. Rohit Gupta received the award for being the most active vice-president, while Anil Raj Bhattarai was recognised as the most active National Council member.
