MFD forecast heavy rainfall with thunder today

KATHMANDU, JULY 25

Heavy rainfall along with thunder and lightning is likely to take place in several parts of the country due to the influence of the monsoon wind, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division.

Currently, partial to moderate rain is occurring across the nation, with light to moderate showers accompanied by thunder and lightning reported in certain areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces. Similar conditions are expected in the remaining provinces.

According to the MFD, the entire country will experience partly to generally cloudy weather throughout the day. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has also indicated a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in various regions of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces. Additionally, a few places in the other provinces may experience similar weather patterns.

Furthermore, the MFD predicts heavy rain with thunder and lightning occurring in one or two places of Koshi, Madesh, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudur Paschim provinces.

As the day progresses into the night, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy nationwide. Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning may occur in a few hilly regions, while one or two places in the rest of the country, including Koshi, Lumbini, and Sudur Pashchim provinces, could experience heavy rain with thunder and lightning.
