Man arrested with over 1.4 million Indian currency in Kapilvastu

KATHMANDU, JULY 26

Kapilvastu police arrested a person for possessing a significant amount of Indian currency, totaling INR 1,494,920, from his rented room in Naya Tol, Kapilvastu Municipality-1 on Tuesday.

The individual taken into custody has been identified as 47-year-old Sunil Kumar Gupta.

Along with the Indian currency, the police also seized Rs 2,413,255 of various denominations of undisclosed sources inside the same room.

The arrest came following a report against Gupta, alleging his involvement in an illegal money exchange business

A team of police deployed from Area Police Office, Pakadi raided his room and found the sum hidden inside his room.

Further investigation into the case is underway.
