NEA rally to promote electric vehicles

KATHMANDU, AUGUST 12

Nepal Electricity Authority organised a rally of electric vehicles today in a bid to encourage and promote the use of electric vehicles to increase the consumption of clean green energy produced within the country. The event took place on the occasion of 38th anniversary of NEA.

The rally that began from NEA headquarters at Ratnapark went through Maitighar, New Baneshwor, Tinkune, Sinamangal, Airport, Gaushala, Chabahil, Maharajgunj, Lazimpat, Lainchaur and Durbarmarg.

Inaugurating the rally, Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Shakti Bahadur Basnet said the government had brought a policy to increase the consumption of electricity produced within the country, and encourage and promote the use of electric appliances and vehicles for clean environment.

On the occasion, ministry Secretary Dinesh Kumar Ghimire, NEA Executive Director Kulman Ghising, office-bearers of Automobiles Association of Nepal and users of electric vehicles were also present.
