Simha, Thapa defend national squash titles

LALITPUR: Nepal No 1 Arahanta Keshar Simha and Krishnaa Thapa defended the titles of the fifth Dhanalaxmi Memorial National Squash Tournament here on Saturday.
Simha defeated Deepak Thapa in straight sets of 11-6, 11-4, 11-8 in men's singles final at the NSRA National Squash Academy. In the women's singles final, Thapa beat national champion Bipana Blon in straight sets of 11-6, 11-9, 11-9. Pasang Blon made it a double after he defeated Bikash Magar 11-5, 8-11, 11-8, 11-5 in boys' U-19 final. Blon had won plate championship trophy on Friday.
Likewise, Prabin Bir Singh Kansakar won the Masters Above-50 singles trophy after he beat Sudeep Bahadur Singh 3-1.
Top three players in men's and women's singles received Rs 21,000, RS 15,000 and RS 5,000 respectively, while top three in U-19 category earned RS 11,000, RS 6,000 and RS 3,000 respectively. The event was organised by Nepal Squash Rackets Association under the auspices of Dhanalaxmi Maharjan Foundation.
