KATHMANDU, AUGUST 16

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said time has come to overhaul airport security management as it was the first gateway to national security.

Addressing a discussion on 'Airport Security Management and Government's Move' at the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers today, he stressed the need to take concrete steps for arranging stringent security at the airport. 'We're holding serious discussion and evaluating the situation so as not to repeat past mistakes. Learning from past is essential. Old thoughts, structure, work style and responsibility need to change,' he said.

'Time has come for rigorous study and review of the entire security management at TIA,' said PM Dahal, adding that a taskforce would be formed for the study and to move as per its report.

On the occasion, Defence Minister Purna Bahadur Khadka viewed that new technology and techniques had brought new dimension in crime. A new security arrangement is required to break the crime network, according to him.
