KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 3
Chhatra Karki, a distinguished Nepalese Science Journalist and Editor, has been elected as a board member of the World Federation of Science Journalists (WFSJ). The WFSJ, established in 2002 with its headquarters in Montreal, Canada, serves as a hub for promoting collaboration within the realm of Science Journalism all over the world.
With a remarkable career spanning over 25 years in journalism, Karki is not only an accomplished journalist but also the founding president of the Nepal Forum of Science Journalists (NFSJ), established in 2014. Additionally, he is a co-founder of the South Asian Science Journalists Association (SASJA), which emerged as a result of the successful Himalayan Climate Boot Camp in 2022.
Reflecting on his new role, Karki expressed his enthusiasm, stating, 'It is a tremendous honor to be elected as a Board member of WFSJ, especially representing a region where science journalism traditionally receives minimal attention. I am committed to contributing to the global science journalism community, making it even more vibrant and inclusive.'
Karki formerly held the position of Editor at NepalNews, the first online news portal in Nepal. Presently, he serves as a contributing writer for GAVI.
