Biratnagar, May 7:
Vice-chairman of the Council of Ministers Kirtinidhi Bishta today said the problems facing the country cannot be resolved by sidelining political parties.
Speaking at a welcome programme organised for him by the civic society in Biratnagar, he said “party-less democracy is beyond imagination”. Bishta said: “The country will plunge into great trouble if parties do not support the government at this difficult hour. The parties, which have faith in democracy, have no option but to join the mainstream politics.” Bishta said the parties should be responsible. “The parties should not forget their role and contribution to the country, which needs their assistance to avoid dangers of terrorism.” He asked the parties to get rid of an illusion that ‘democratic system has ended’.
“Peace is the need of the hour. Democracy is neither sold nor crushed,” he added.
At another programme organised by the Morang Trade Association (MTA) in Biratnagar today, businessmen demanded the construction of a motorway to Kimathanka of Sangkhuwasabha district on the border with China.
Bishta told the businessmen that the government was holding discussions for constructing the said motorway with Chinese officials. “China has shown its interest for the project.”
MTA chairman Jeevan Nepal said the proposed motorway would be a boon to the people of the eastern region.
