HAN, KMC hold discussions for tourism promotion

The Kathmandu Valley Monastery Tamu Service Committee has urged the Kathmandu Metropolitan City not to dismantle the monastery at Devinagar of the KMC-10.

KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 12

A discussion on tourism promotion was held between a delegation of the Hotel Association Nepal (HAN) led by its President Binayak Shah and Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Balendra Shah.

In the discussion, Binayak presented the necessary long-term plans to be carried out in the tourism industry and called on the support of the metropolis to assist in the campaign.

Stating that tourism is one of the main industries that can help achieve prosperity for the country, HAN President Shah remarked that it is necessary to hold promotional programmes in the international tourism market, keeping in mind the international practice and the potential of Nepal's tourism.

During the meeting, an in-depth discussion was also held regarding the promotion of international-level programmes in Nepal with the aim of increasing the potential and capacity of tourism as well as bringing national dignity to the international world through tourism.

The KMC and HAN also held a joint meeting to decide the necessary action plan for further promotion of the tourism sector.

Mayor Shah said that the metropolis is positive on assisting tourism development in the region and promised that various programmes prepared by the metropolis for tourism promotion will be implemented at the earliest.

Targeting the upcoming festivals, HAN is also set to promote local dishes by promoting the local culinary culture in Nepal in their menus for the upcoming Dashain festival.

As some of the restaurants are not fully operational during the Dashain holidays, members of the HAN have announced to provide home-cooked meals to foreign guests visiting Nepal during the festive season with a special discount. The programme will be organised from October 15 to 28.

The aim of the programme is to make a tourists' stay to Nepal an unforgettable experience by giving them a taste of original Nepali food.

Members of HAN from all over the country, including Hotel Kingsberry and Mechi Crown in Jhapa, Tiger Palace in Bhairahawa, Dreamland Gold Resort in Manigram, Dream International Hotel in Butwal and Airport Hotel in Kathmandu, Aloft Hotel, Dwarika Hotel and Nepali Ghar will provide the special facilities and dishes in their menu for Dashain festival.

According to the HAN, the delectable local cuisines will be served to customers, and more member hotels from other regions will also participate in this programme.
