KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 20
The Nepali Congress plans to dispatch teams of volunteers, including engineers, to construct temporary huts for people affected by the earthquake.
A meeting of NC office-bearers on Monday decided to promptly send these volunteer teams to provide relief to earthquake survivors in Jajarkot and Rukum Paschim districts, shielding them from the chilling cold.
The meeting, held at the residence of NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba, recommended that the volunteers prioritize building huts for elderly individuals and families with new mothers, as stated by Chief of the NC Publicity Department, Min Bishwokarma.
On this occasion, NC Vice-President and Defence Minister Purna Bahadur Khadka, along with General-Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa, who recently conducted an on-site visit to quake-hit areas, briefed the gathering about the situation in those regions.
Bishwokarma shared that the party is deploying 25 teams, each comprising 10 members, including engineers and overseers associated with the NC, Nepal Students Union, and Nepal Tarun Dal.
This initiative aims to address the shortage of human resources required to construct temporary shelters in the earthquake-affected areas
