PM to lead Nepali delegation to COP28 in UAE

KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 27

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal will lead the Nepali delegation to the 28th Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 28) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from November 30 to December 12. His departure from Kathmandu for Dubai is scheduled for November 29.

During COP 28, the Prime Minister is set to participate in the High-level Segment, particularly the World Climate Action Summit scheduled for December 1 to 2. He is slated to deliver the national statement on December 2, as announced by a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Additionally, Prime Minister Dahal will attend the 52nd Union Day Celebration of the United Arab Emirates and the Zayed Sustainability Prize Awards Ceremony, both hosted by the UAE.

A significant highlight will be the high-level side event hosted by Prime Minister Dahal on December 2, titled 'Call of the Mountain: Who Saves Us from the Climate Crisis?' This event aims to amplify Nepal's voice on climate change and promote the mountain agenda within the COP negotiation process.

During the High-Level Segment, the Prime Minister is expected to hold bilateral meetings with heads of state, heads of government, and other esteemed dignitaries attending the Conference. He will also visit the Embassy of Nepal in Abu Dhabi, engage with the Nepali community, and address the Nepal-UAE Business Summit.

Accompanying Prime Minister Dahal on this official visit will be his daughter Ganga Dahal, Minister for Forest and Environment Dr. Birendra Prasad Mahato, and other senior officials from the Government of Nepal. The return to Nepal is scheduled for December 3, as indicated in the press release.
