KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 29
The Nepal Police have issued a public advisory, urging people to exercise caution due to a group of fraudsters exploiting the public under the guise of online goods delivery.
These criminals have reportedly swindled individuals out of thousands of rupees by falsely promising online delivery of goods, according to the police.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Kuber Kadayat, the police spokesperson, emphasized the importance of public vigilance, advising individuals not to make online payments without confirming the delivery of ordered goods.
He stated, 'Lately, there has been an increase in complaints related to fraud, where goods are advertised on social media. Customers are coerced into making advance payments, only to have their accounts blocked without receiving the promised goods. Therefore, when engaging in online transactions, people should proceed only after verifying the legitimacy of the relevant page or account.'
Furthermore, the police have encouraged individuals to promptly report such fraud incidents to the Kathmandu Valley Crime Division in Minbhavan or their respective district police offices.'
