Indian Embassy holds Projects Portfolio Performance Review Meeting with Ministry of Finance

KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 1

The embassy of India and Ministry of Finance held Projects Portfolio Performance Review Meeting on Thursday in Kathmandu. The Indian side was led by Naveen Srivastava, Ambassador of India and Nepali side was led by Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat, Minister for Finance.

Representatives of concerned Ministries, Departments and Agencies involved in implementation of projects, as well as concerned officers and officials of the Embassy of India participated in the meeting, according to the statement issued by the Indian Embassy.

'The discussions were held on ongoing projects in various sectors under the India – Nepal development cooperation framework both under Grant assistance as well as under various Lines of Credit. Meeting also deliberated on potential sectors of collaboration between India and Nepal in the future,' the statement said.

Ambassador Srivastava during the meeting highlighted India's robust development cooperation with Nepal and reiterated Government of India's (GoI) commitment and support towards working with Government of Nepal in the future towards development cooperation with Nepal as per the priorities set by the Government of Nepal. Finance Minister Mr. Mahat appreciated the GoI's development support and highlighted its significance to advance Nepal's developmental efforts. He expressed GoN's commitment to further enhance this cooperation in other potential sectors as well.

India is the largest and most prominent development partner of Nepal. India-Nepal development partnership which began in 1951 has continued and expanded over the last seven decades. The projects under Development partnership have been diverse in size and sector with geographical spread throughout Nepal, Indian Embassy added.
