Six citizenship cards cancelled on ground of fake details

KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 29

The government has revoked six Nepali citizenship certificates obtained from the District Administration Office, Siraha, due to the submission of fake details.

Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Rekha Sharma, announced the removal of these individuals from Nepali citizenship during a press briefing on the decisions of the Council of Ministers held on December 21 and 28.

In other decisions, the cabinet has given in-principle approval to draft a bill related to the formation, operation, and conditions of services of the Nepal Special Service. It also defined indigenous minorities (except Dalits) as those with less than 0.5 percent of the total population of the National Consensus, 2078 BS, for the purpose of the National Assembly Member Election Act, 2075 BS.

Moreover, the government appointed Ramkrishna Adhiakri and Sushila Chaudhary as advisors to the Gorkhapatra Corporation, approved directives on social media use by government offices, national policies on disabilities and children, and an action plan for implementing the national gender equality policy.

The cabinet entrusted the management responsibility of the Annapurna Conservation Area and Manaslu Conservation Area to the National Trust for Nature Conservation.

Additionally, the government designated Nepali Ambassador to Malaysia, Dilliraj Poudel, as a non-resident ambassador to the Philippines. It promoted two brigadier generals to the rank of major general and nine colonels to brigadier generals in the Nepal Army.

The cabinet approved the use of land for the Kathmandu-Tarai-Madhes Expressway Road Project, involving 40.19 hectares in the national forest of Makawanpur and Bara, with the removal of 4,345 trees.

It also approved the use of 10.13 hectares of land in the national forest area of Rasuwa for 24 years and the removal of 1,214 trees for the Sanjen Khola Hydropower Project transmission line.

Furthermore, Srijana (Malla) Rana and Lokbhakta Shamsher JB Rana were nominated as members of the Dream Garden Development Committee.

Public holidays and office timings for 2081 BS were also determined, with extensions granted for Martyrs' Day and Ram Navami, as informed by Minister Sharma.
