Himalaya Airlines has been awarded the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) certificate, making it the first Nepali airline to achieve certification under the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
The certificate, granted in December 2023, will remain valid until March 3, 2025, according to Himalaya Airlines.
This recognition signifies the airline's commitment to enhancing safety standards in the aviation sector, aligning its safety protocols with international standards. The achievement brings the airline's safety standards on par with those of global counterparts.
During a press conference today, Bijay Shrestha, Vice-Chairperson of Himalaya Airlines, emphasized that the IOSA registration was not just an accomplishment for the airline but also for the broader aviation sector and the country.
Nabina Karmacharya, Deputy Director-General of the Aviation Safety and Security Regulation Directorate of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, expressed pride in Himalaya Airlines' achievement, considering it a matter of national pride.
Established in 2014 as a joint venture between Nepal and China, Himalaya Airlines operates flights to major destinations in the Middle East and South Asia, including the UAE, Malaysia, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bangladesh, and five major cities in China, including Beijing.
