KATHMANDU, JANUARY 9
The Council of Ministers appointed 25 individuals to the National Development Council on Tuesday.
The appointees are selected from representatives of the District Coordination Committees (DDCs), local governments, and other agencies. This decision was made during a cabinet meeting today, as reported by the PM's secretariat.
In addition, the government has decided to recognize individuals as martyrs whose names were previously omitted from the Nepal Gazette. Corrections have been made to the list of martyrs announced on different dates.
Furthermore, the cabinet approved the resignation of Purushottam Khanal, the Chairperson of the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA).
According to the PM's secretariat, Nabaraj Adhikari, a member of the NTA Board of Directors, has been appointed as the Acting Chair until a subsequent decision, following Rule 3 (A) of the Nepal Telecommunications Authority Regulations.
To appoint the new NTA Chair, a panel has been formed under the leadership of the Secretary at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
Moreover, in today's cabinet meeting, a committee was formed to investigate issues related to power tariff dues for dedicated and trunk line services. Former Supreme Court Justice Girish Chandra Lal will lead the probe panel.
The cabinet meeting also directed the line agencies to ensure power supply to industries whose supply was cut off due to long-pending dues.
