NA approves withdrawal of Immigration Bill by majority

KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 26
The National Assembly (NA) has approved the proposal to withdraw the 'Immigration Bill, 2076 BS', which was under consideration in the National Assembly.
Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha presented the bill before the House.
In response to queries raised in the assembly, Minister Shrestha stated that the Immigration Bill, 2076 BS has been withdrawn, and the next bill to address this matter will be introduced at the earliest.
'The previous government had presented the Immigration Bill, 2076 seeking enactment.
The current government has decided to withdraw the bill for now. The decision was made considering recent changes in national and international contexts, the need to remain vigilant regarding national security, and the necessity of modernizing and managing immigration services.'
Also, on the occasion, Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat presented the proposal for a 'discussion over the principles and priorities of the appropriation bill 2081/82'.
The next meeting of the NA is scheduled to take place at 11:01 on the coming Thursday.
