POKHARA: UCPN-Maoist vice chairman Dr Baburam Bhattarai on Saturday urged Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal to sack his cabinet colleague Defence Minister Bidhya Devi Bhandari. Speaking at a programme organised by Revolutionary Journalist Association in Pokhara, Bhattarai said the DM’s statement could not be dismissed as a personal opinion. He ranted that her contentious remark on army integration must cost her the ministerial seat. He reasoned that the government action has been woefully inadequate given the grave offence of her statement. Moving on, Bhattarai said that the High-Level Political Mechanism is meaningless if it is unable to change the leadership of the current government. He went on to say that if the HLPM did not address the demands of the Maoists, it could be considered a failure and functionless. Bhattarai reasoned that the new constitution would never be formed as long as the government is not under his party's leadership.
