KATHMANDU, MARCH 27
The U.S. Embassy today organised a celebratory networking event for prominent Nepali women in Kathmandu.
The event saw the esteemed presence of 50 leading Nepali women from various sectors.
The networking reception for women showcased the U.S. Embassy's longstanding support for Nepali women trailblazers and demonstrated the U.S. commitment to helping empower women to become key drivers of progress and growth.
Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sewa Lamsal was the guest of honor at the event.
The event also highlighted a video address from U.S. Ambassador Neal Dean R. Thompson to all the participating women.
Welcoming the attendees, U.S. Embassy spokesperson Zehra Naqvi said, 'The U.S. Embassy is doing this Celebrating Women's Voices event to recognize and honor women, and also to create opportunities for all of us to connect with each other at a different level, learn a bit about each other's journeys, and hopefully help all of us push for greater diversity, inclusion, equity, and accessibility.
You're all here because you didn't let any glass ceiling define how high you could or would go, you used your voice to advocate for yourself, for others, for doing the right thing, often making difficult choices and personal sacrifices along the way. You're inspiring, you're role models to young and old, boys and girls, and men and women because you persevere over and over again. I wish we didn't have to persevere quite so much but we know there's still more to do and that we're not done yet.'
