The last quarterfinal match of the 14th Simara Gold Cup faced an unexpected delay as strong winds swept through the stadium on Thursday night, forcing organizers to postpone the game.

The clash between the Armed Police Force (APF) and Friends Club was being played under floodlights at the Simara Stadium when adverse weather conditions intervened.

Officials made the call to halt the match after just 13 minutes into the second half, citing the impossibility of continuing play amidst the gusts of wind and rain. Referee Umesh Bindari signaled the interruption, acknowledging the impact of the weather on the game.

The turbulent conditions even led to a concerning incident as a hoarding board within the stadium became dislodged, striking and injuring a spectator.

The game is set to resume on Friday, with both teams eager to continue their quest for victory and secure a place in the tournament's next stage.
