NEPSE sees slight decline, microfinance sector leads gains

KATHMANDU, APRIL 14

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) experienced a slight dip of 2.35 points or 0.11%, settling at 2,023.35 points by the close of trading on Sunday.

On the inaugural trading day of the new year 2081 BS, the sensitive index, which assesses the performance of class 'A' stocks, held steady, while the float index, indicating actively traded shares, saw a marginal decline of 0.14%.

Across the market, a predominantly negative sentiment prevailed, with only four sectors managing to secure gains. Leading the charge was the Microfinance sector, boasting a 1.91% increase, closely followed by the finance sector with a 1.04% uptick, and the trading and hydropower sectors with gains of 0.50% and 0.39% respectively.

Conversely, the Non-life insurance sector bore the brunt of losses, witnessing a 1.03% downturn in today's trading session.

In terms of individual stock movements, 127 companies advanced, while 108 companies experienced declines, and 10 remained unchanged. Notably, Shrijanshil Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (SHLB) saw an impressive 10% surge in its share value, whereas Gurans Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (GLBSL) incurred a significant 10% loss.

Overall, the daily turnover amounted to Rs 3 billion, facilitated by the exchange of 7,795,033 units of shares from 320 companies across 59,042 transactions.
