KATHMANDU: Under the warm winter sun, young participants along with their parents were enthusiastically seen registering for the second Chelsea junior art competition held on January 23 at the Chelsea International Academy. It was a competition open for children of the age group between three to eight years from different schools. The principal of Chelsea Sudhir Jha informed, “We have organised this event to promote creativity of these young talents in the valley. Altogether there are 435 participants. And we have ‘My Family’ as a theme for the age group seven to eight years, while for those of three to six, there is no theme.” Besides the art competition, a cultural programme was also organised by the college and school students of Chelsea. A five-year-old participant Alie Sherpa from Stephen International School, Chakrapath innocently said, “I have come here to do some art and right now I am drawing my school.” Even some guests at the event like Shambu Sharma, Dwarika Prasad Sharma and Shiva Prasad Sharma were seen busy sketching. The trio said in unison, “We are also trying to sketch and express in a similar manner that small children would normally do.” Dolma Diki Sherpa and Hridayesh Timsina from Clinton School, Manaswi Baskota from Montessori Kinder World and Samip Dangol from Ideal English High School bagged the first position from category A, B and C respectively.
