The cremation services at the Pashupati Aryaghat-based electric crematorium will be provided free of charge starting from the beginning of the upcoming fiscal year.

Dr Milan Kumar Thapa, the Member-Secretary of the Pashupati Area Development Trust, announced this decision. The initiative aims to address the challenges faced by low-income and impoverished individuals.

Additionally, Dr. Thapa disclosed plans for establishing a library of international standards at Seto Sattal Guheshwori, dedicated to religious and cultural studies and research.

Dr. Thapa, who had been suspended due to corruption allegations related to the Jalahari case in Pashupatinath, resumed office after receiving exoneration from the Special Court on Tuesday.

The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority had filed corruption charges against Dr. Pradeep Dhakal, Arun Kumar Shrestha, and Member-Secretary Thapa on October 1, 2023.

However, the Special Court acquitted all three of them on Tuesday.
