Police arrest one for illegal gambling activities; Transactions exceed Rs 2 billion

KATHMANDU, MAY 13
The Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office has arrested a person on the charge of being involved in illegal gambling activities from Bhaktapur.
The arrested has been identified as Anil Dhungana (24) of Mandandeupur Municipality-8 in Kavrepalanchok and currently residing in Suryabinayak Municipality-2 of Bhaktapur.
Dhungana has been charged for his involvement in the collection of funds for betting purposes through applications such as 1x Bet, Juwa 365, used in sports and crypto betting.
After the preliminary investigation, it has come to light that Dhungana has conducted transcations amounting to Rs 2 billion 11 million 844 thousand 102 rupees. These transactions were traced across 56 bank accounts, linked to 11 Connect IPS accounts and 15 Esewa wallet accounts, registered under various individuals' mobile numbers.
Similarly, police also seized one laptop, six mobile phones, one Wi-Fi router, 38 SIM cards, five ATM cards, 16 check books, one Indian Aadhaar card, one Indian PAN card and other documents from his possession.
Dhungana has been sent to District Police Range, Bhaktapur for further investigation and subsequent legal proceedings.
