KATHMANDU, MAY 14
Two Mongolian climbers who choose to attempt Mt Everest without guides, have gone missing above 8,000m since two days, expedition organisers said.
According to Pemba Sherpa, director at 8K Expeditions, Usukhjargal Tsedendamba and Prevsuren Lkhagvajav have gone missing above South Col as they headed for summit push on May 12.
The last contact was made around 7:30 pm the same day and two Sherpa climbers were mobilised immediately to search for the missing climbers, Sherpa said.
The duo had obtained only the base camp service but were climbing on their own, said Sherpa. They refused to tag Sherpa guides along while climbing the mountain, he added.
