NEPSE soars above 2,000 points as all sectors witness gains

KATHMANDU, MAY 14

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) surged past the 2,000-point mark yet again on Tuesday, marking a significant uptick of 28.62 points or 1.43%, settling at 2,027.51 points as the trading day drew to a close.

Alongside this notable rise in the benchmark index, the sensitive index, reflecting the performance of class 'A' stocks, also saw a commendable increase of 1.01%, while the float index, assessing actively traded shares, experienced a rise of 1.40% today.

The market displayed predominantly positive sentiments, witnessing gains across all sectors. The Microfinance sector led the charge with an impressive 3.44% gain, closely followed by the hydropower sector with a 3.22% increase. Additionally, the Development Bank, Investment, Life Insurance, Non-Life Insurance, and Others sectors all recorded gains, surpassing the 1% mark.

In today's trading, 219 companies advanced, while only 22 companies witnessed declines, and three remained unchanged. Among individual stocks, Samaj Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (SAMAJ), Upakar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (ULBSL), and Unique Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (UNLB) all saw a notable surge in share prices, each recording a 10% increase.

The buoyant investor sentiment was further reflected in the daily turnover, which rose to Rs 4 billion from Monday's Rs 3.4 billion, driven by the exchange of 9,855,285 units of shares from 320 companies in 59,856 transactions.
