Heavy rain likely tonight across multiple provinces, continuing until Thursday

KATHMANDU, JULY 30

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is forecasted for several provinces in Nepal tonight.

According to the Meteorological Forecast Division (MFD), Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces will experience significant downpours. Additionally, one or two locations in Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces are also likely to see heavy rainfall tonight.

This weather pattern is expected to continue until Thursday.

The MFD predicts that the heavy to very heavy rainfall will primarily occur at night, although heavy rain is also expected throughout the day on Wednesday in Koshi, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.

On Thursday, a few places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Sudurpaschim provinces will also experience heavy rainfall during the day.

Apart from the heavy rainfall, some areas in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini will experience light to moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning. This pattern will also be seen in a few places across the other provinces.

Today, skies across the country will be generally cloudy, continuing into the night.

Throughout the day, various locations in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as a few places in Madhesh province, will experience light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning, according to the MFD.

Currently, Nepal is under the influence of monsoon winds, resulting in widespread rainfall.

In the last 24 hours, the Kathmandu Valley experienced heavy rainfall, especially at night, with 41.5 mm recorded, the highest in the country. Taplejung recorded the second-highest rainfall with 27.2 mm in the last 24 hours.
