KATHMANDU, AUGUST 19

Mobile phone service, which was disrupted due to massive flooding in Thame of Khumbu Pasang Lhamu rural municipality-5 in Solukhumbu, has been restored.

In a press statement issued today, Nepal Telecom announced that its services in Thame have been reinstated. The flooding, attributed to the outburst of the Khumbu glacier lake on August 16, had led to the closure of NT BTS towers in Thame, Namche, Khumjung, and Pani Tanki.

Earlier, Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung had instructed Nepal Telecom to restore telecommunications in Thame promptly by implementing alternative arrangements.

The disaster has caused damage to both private and public structures in the area.
