KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 6

The government has lifted the ban on access to the social media platform TikTok.

In a press release issued today, the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) instructed all internet and mobile service providers to restore public access to TikTok. Following this directive, users can now access TikTok on their mobile devices.

The government had initially decided on August 22 to revoke the ban, which was imposed by the previous administration on November 13, 2023, citing its adverse effects on social harmony and the social environment.
