The Meteorological Forecasting Division of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecasted rain for three days starting Thursday.

In a special bulletin issued today, the Division indicated that heavy rainfall is expected in some parts of the country during this period, urging the public to stay alert.

According to the Division's meteorologist, Shanti Kandel, the monsoon wind is currently affecting the entire country, with the monsoon trough positioned further south than its average location. However, the trough, currently situated around Madhya Pradesh in India, is likely to intensify and shift northward, activating monsoon conditions in Nepal, particularly in the western regions.

Western Nepal is expected to experience rainfall from Thursday evening through Saturday morning. Generally, full cloud cover is forecasted for Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, with partial to general cloudiness in the rest of the country.

The bulletin predicts light to moderate rain with thunderstorms in many areas of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as in some parts of the other provinces.

Additionally, a few areas in Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces, along with one or two locations in the remaining provinces, are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next three days.

Tonight, partly to generally cloudy skies are forecast across the country, with light to moderate rain and thunderstorms likely in some areas of Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces, and in a few areas of the other provinces. There is also a chance of heavy rain in one or two places in Koshi, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces.

The Division has warned of potential risks of floods and inundation during the night due to the rainfall, urging everyone to remain vigilant.
