KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 25

Minister for Home Affairs, Ramesh Lekhak, emphasized the need for the Immigration Office to improve its public image.

During an inspection of the Immigration Office at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu today, Minister Lekhak addressed concerns about the negative perceptions surrounding the office and stressed the importance of enhancing its reputation.

He warned that any inappropriate activities at the immigration office would not be tolerated, referencing the negative impression held by both citizens and passengers. The Minister instructed immigration personnel to collaborate effectively with other public agencies at the airport to improve service delivery.

'The international airport is like a mirror to any country,' Minister Lekhak stated, adding, 'It forms the first impression of Nepal for foreign travelers, reflecting our values and hospitality.' He urged immigration officers to exhibit professionalism, tolerance, and a service-oriented approach while maintaining a friendly and polite demeanor.

During the visit, Immigration Office employees brought attention to the lack of adequate space and physical infrastructure at TIA, which hampers their ability to work efficiently. They also highlighted the need for training to enhance the skills of immigration staff.

Minister Lekhak was accompanied by Secretary Gokarna Mani Duwadi from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
