Underwater rescuers recover bodies of two missing in Sarlahi pond

BARAHATHAHAWA, NOVEMBER 5
Underwater rescue divers recovered the bodies of two people who went missing after their car plunged into a pond at Bayalbas in Ishworpur Municipality, Sarlahi, early this morning.
The deceased have been identified as Ram Kant Thakur, 37, from Sonwa Rural Municipality-8, and Suresh Mahato, 38, from Gaushala Municipality-10. Both men were traveling in a car (Lu 2 Cha 6758) headed to Mahottari from Sarlahi district when it veered off course and sank in the pond at Minyakhor, Ishworpur-2.
A third passenger, Jank Yadav, 31, from Gaushala-2, Mahottari, managed to escape by swimming to safety.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Dipak Shrestha confirmed that a team of divers from the Armed Police Force was deployed to conduct the search and recovery operation. The bodies have been sent to Provincial Hospital, Malangawa, for postmortem examination.
An investigation into the cause of the accident is currently underway, police added.
