Body of tourist missing in Langtang found

RASUWA, NOVEMBER 8

A foreign tourist who had been missing in Lirung area, Langtang has been found dead.

Chief of the District Police Office, Rasuwa, Keshav Bhattarai said that the body of Andrez Husurka, a 34-year-old Slovakian bearing the passport 8915028, who had been missing since two weeks in course of trekking in the mountain area, has been found in third attempt of aerial search and rescue.

A rescue team of Senior Captain Bibek Khadka located the body of the missing tourist in a 30 metres deep gorge around Lirung mountain region at an altitude of 1,700 metres from the sea level, DSP Bhattarai said.

The body has been kept at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Kathmandu for post-mortem examination.

Mareck Holesek, 50, a Czech Republic national, bearing passport no. 4615633091, who was together with Husurka, had come into contact last week.

Police said that they are carrying out further investigation whether or not the minimum criteria were met while sending the tourists to the mountains. They had gone for trekking from the Kathmandu Trekking Company, Thamel in Kathmandu.
