26 Nepali diplomats, officers embark on special training programme in India

KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 19

A delegation of twenty-six Nepali diplomats and officers is set to visit India from 20 to 30 November 2024. The group, representing ten key Ministries and Departments of the Government of Nepal, will participate in the inaugural Special Training Programme at the Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service (SSIFS), under the Ministry of External Affairs.

The diverse cohort includes representatives from various ministries, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Ministry of Finance; Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies; Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs; Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration; Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation; Ministry of Urban Development; Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development; Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport; and the Department of Railways.

This training programme will include modules on issues of global political and economic relevance, trade & connectivity, climate change and humanitarian assistance, development partnership, shared culture & heritage, according to press release issued by the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu.

In addition to the training modules, the programme will also feature visits to significant historical and tourist sites outside New Delhi, it added.

Prior to their departure, Prasanna Shrivastava, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, held an interaction with the 26 Nepali diplomats and officers on 19 November 2024, prior to their departure for India, and wished all of them a useful, productive and enjoyable training experience in New Delhi.

This visit underscores the ongoing institutional exchanges and the strong bilateral relationship between India and Nepal, highlighting the commitment to collaborative growth and development, the Indian embassy said.
