NPL: Biratnagar Kings triumph over Lumbini Lions to claim first victory

KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 4

Biratnagar Kings secured their first victory in the Nepal Premier League T20 tournament by defeating Lumbini Lions in today's match.

The game, held at the Tribhuvan University (TU) Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, saw Biratnagar chase down a target of 192 runs set by Lumbini Lions, winning by 2 wickets in 19.5 overs. This victory marked Biratnagar's first win in the ongoing NPL after two consecutive losses.

Lokesh was the star performer for Biratnagar, scoring 71 runs from 47 balls, which included six sixes and three fours. Basir Ahmed contributed 40 runs, Martin Guptill added 28, Crish Sole scored 14, and Dipak Bohara chipped in with 9 runs.

On the bowling side, Lumbini's Durgesh Gupta claimed 3 wickets, while Ramon Simmonds and Saad Bin Zafar took 2 wickets each. Bibek Yadav also added one wicket to Lumbini's tally.

Earlier, Lumbini Lions, invited to bat first after losing the toss, posted 191 runs in 20 overs, losing 7 wickets. Captain Rohit Paudel top-scored with 46 runs from 29 balls, hitting two sixes and four fours.

Tom Moores contributed 30, Bibek Yadav made 19, Arjun Saud scored 17, and Ashutosh Ghiraiya and Saad Bin Zafar each made 15 runs. Sundeep Jora added 12 runs to the total, while Lumbini Lions also benefitted from 29 extra runs.

In tomorrow's fixture, Pokhara Avengers face table-toppers Janakpur Bolts, while Kathmandu Gurkhas take on Sudur Paschim Royals in the second fixture.
