KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 19

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli stated that a new coalition government, comprising the two major political parties, had to be formed after political uncertainty, instability, and corruption exceeded tolerable limits.

Speaking at a program organized on the occasion of the 37th Establishment Day of the Society for the Liberation of Oppressed Castes, Nepal, PM Oli, who is also the Chairman of the CPN (UML), emphasized that the current government was established with the goal of ensuring political stability and good governance.

'We will guide the nation towards progress by restoring good governance and development. The CPN (UML) and the Nepali Congress are united in pursuing social reform,' he said.

The PM and UML Chairman further remarked, 'During the monarchy, people were trapped by false accusations and the spread of caste-based prejudice. We are all human, and all humans are equal. We will also work on amending existing laws to eradicate caste discrimination.'

He affirmed that the current government is committed to eliminating caste 'untouchability' and communalism, stating that no one can be content while suffering injustice, caste discrimination, or distress. The PM emphasized the need to eradicate inequality and caste discrimination for the happiness of the people.

He pointed out that provisions in the Constitution itself ensure social justice and equality, stating, 'All humans are the same. No one is born superior. The notion that someone is superior or belongs to a 'higher caste' by birth is unacceptable. The government does not recognize such an idea.'

Nepali Congress President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba stressed the importance of adhering to the Constitution and laws, as well as promoting social reform to ensure caste equality.
