KATHMANDU, JANUARY 26

Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR), Devraj Ghimire, held discussions with representatives of the major ruling parties, the Nepali Congress and the CPN (UML), regarding bills passed by the National Assembly and forwarded to the HoR.

Today, Speaker Ghimire invited Nepali Congress Chief Whip Shyam Ghimire and UML Chief Whip Mahesh Kumar Bartaula to his office at Singh Durbar to seek their opinions on the Constitutional Council Bill and the Order of Precedence Bill, both pending in the HoR.

'The Speaker has requested opinions on the Constitutional Council Bill, passed by the National Assembly, as well as other bills stalled in the lower house, including the Order of Precedence Bill, after party-level discussions. Today's meeting concluded with an agreement to reconvene with the Speaker on Monday,' said Nepali Congress Chief Whip Shyam Ghimire.

UML Chief Whip Mahesh Bartaula stated that all pending bills in Parliament would be advanced during the winter session, scheduled to begin on January 31. He also informed that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will address Parliament on the session's opening day.

As the winter session approaches, Speaker Ghimire has intensified his engagements.

Later today, he is scheduled to meet with the Chief Whips of the major opposition party, the CPN (Maoist Centre), and the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), for further discussions.
