KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 3
National Assembly (NA) Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal has urged Israel to take decisive steps for the release of Nepali student Bipin Joshi, who remains in Hamas' captivity.
During a meeting with Israeli Ambassador to Nepal Shmulik Arie Bass at his office in Singha Durbar on Monday, Dahal emphasized the urgent need for Israel's intervention, according to Dilli Malla, his press coordinator.
Additionally, the NA Chairperson called for enhanced safety, security, and employment opportunities for Nepali migrant workers in Israel, Malla reported.
Their discussion spanned various topics, including Nepal-Israel diplomatic relations, mutual interests, and avenues for cooperation. In response, Ambassador Shmulik highlighted Israel's ongoing efforts to secure Joshi's release and assured Dahal of continuous diplomatic engagement.
The ambassador also informed Dahal that he had met with Joshi's father and family members earlier that day to provide updates on the situation.
Furthermore, he reassured that such incidents would not recur and affirmed Israel's commitment to taking responsibility for the well-being of foreign students in the country.
Dahal's appeal comes as Hamas continues the phased release of hostages amid the ceasefire, while Nepal's government remains engaged in diplomatic efforts to secure Joshi's safe return.
