St. Xavier's College hosts 29th SET exhibition showcasing technology and innovation

KATHMANDU: St. Xavier's College successfully hosted its 29th SET Exhibition, a major science event that brought together creativity and academic knowledge of students to address issues on social upliftment, environmental conservation, and technological innovation.
The exhibition, organized by the Social Service, Environment, and Technology (SET) Council, provided a platform for students to showcase groundbreaking projects addressing real-world challenges.
According to the statement issued by the organizers, the event featured participants in two main categories: Inter and Intra. The Intra category included three sectors; the Social Service, Environment and Technology while the Inter category welcomed participants from both inter-school and inter-college levels. With representation from institutions within and beyond the valley.
Each category had three winners, who received certificates, medals, and cash prizes. Additionally, a Public Choice Award was presented to the project that received the most appreciation from attendees.
The highlights of the event were a water rocket, robotic arm, AI powered vehicle models and landslide alarm made by the participants.
By integrating theoretical concepts with practical applications, students demonstrated solutions to real-world problems, offering a thought-provoking experience.
Highlighting the significance of the event, Chief Guest Dr. Rajendra Prasad Bhandari, the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology stated, 'The students are the building blocks of the nation, and this exhibition gives them a platform to showcase their innovations that can inspire the older generation.'
The event was successful in bringing together participants from different schools and colleges with their new technologies and innovative ideas, the organizers said.
'The transformation students bring each year is very unique. There is a touch of creativity, innovation and new angle every year' said Fr. Dr. Augustine Thomas, S.J.; the principal of St. Xavier's College, Maitighar.
The exhibition inspired innovation and social responsibility among young minds, encouraging them to apply their knowledge to create a better future. The event also served as a reminder of the role that educational institutions play in shaping a more informed and proactive society, it added.
