Three dead as tipper crashes into shelter home in Sankhu

KATHMANDU, MARCH 7

Three people lost their lives after a tipper crashed into a shelter home beside the road at Salambutar in Shankharapur Municipality-6, Kathmandu, early this morning.

The deceased have been identified as Akash (21), Suman (21), and Harijan (45).

According to police, the accident occurred at around 3:40 AM when the tipper (Ba 2 Ka 6580) rammed into a shelter home room run by the Conflict Victims and Disabled Society Organization. At the time of the accident, 10 people were sleeping inside the room.

Akash and Suman died on the spot, while Harijan succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at Nepal Medical College, Jorpati.

The tipper was being driven by Sagar Majhi (25) of Sindhupalchowk, who has been taken into custody for further investigation.

The shelter home, managed by Yubraj Thapa, has been operational since 2062 BS and currently houses 61 individuals.

Further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
