KATHMANDU, MARCH 14
The price of gold has reached a historic high of Rs 174,500 per tola in the domestic market on Friday. This surge of Rs 4,000 per tola in a single day has taken gold prices to their highest level ever recorded in Nepal.
According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers' Association, the fine gold was being traded at Rs 170,500 per tola just two days ago, on Wednesday.
The previous record for gold prices was set on February 25, when the metal reached Rs 171,300 per tola.
In addition to gold, silver prices have also seen a jump. Silver, which was trading at Rs 1,970 per tola on Wednesday, is now being sold at Rs 2,000 per tola, marking an increase of Rs 30 per tola.
The price of both precious metals had remained unchanged on Thursday, as the market was closed due to a public holiday in the hilly region of Nepal in celebration of the Holi festival.
