MAHOTTARI, MARCH 17

Police have arrested a man with around 547 kilograms of marijuana along the BP Highway in Bardibas Municipality-3, Mahottari on Sunday afternoon.

The arrested individual have been identified as Salin Magar (37) from Bahrabise Municipality-7, Sindhupalchok, currently residing in Tokha, Kathmandu.

Acting on a tip-off, a team from the Area Police Office, Bardibas, and the Narcotics Control Bureau, Bardibas branch, stopped a mini-truck (Ba. 3 Kha 5832) traveling from Sindhuli to Bardibas for inspection.

During the search, police discovered the marijuana concealed beneath a false bottom in the truck's hood, covered with black tarpaulin. Following this, they arrested the truck driver, Salin Magar, in connection with the illegal transportation of the contraband and seized the marijuana.

Further investigation into the case is ongoing, police said.
