KATHMANDU, MARCH 18
Voting for the Free Student Union (FSU) elections commenced today in most of the Tribhuvan University (TU) campuses across the country. The elections aim to elect new leadership for various student organizations affiliated with the university.
Polling began at 8:00 am in 250 TU-affiliated campuses and 46 constituent campuses. The voting process, which started in most locations, will continue until 4:00 pm.
Election committees formed at each campus are scheduled to begin vote counting immediately after the conclusion of voting.
The FSU elections feature participation from student unions affiliated with various political parties, each fielding their candidates.
Historically, TU has conducted FSU elections every two years. However, the process has been irregular since 2065 BS. The tradition of FSU elections began in 2018 BS and was held annually until 2030 BS.
This year's elections mark a significant step in reinstating the regularity of student union elections, fostering democratic participation among students nationwide.
