KATHMANDU: The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has urged the government to be serious on the security of journalists. A statement issued here today by the FNJ has also condemned the arrest of Indra Mani Bhusal, joint secretary of the FNJ's Arghakhachi chapter and filing of a case against him under the public offence Act. According to the statement, Bhusal was arrested from Sandikharka while he was reporting on a scuffle between the Rapti-Lumbini bandh organisers and security personnel on January 20. The bandh was organised by the Rastriya Janamorcha Nepal against federalism. "Filing a case against a journalist on duty by disregarding the freedom of the press to collect news and disseminate it means insulting the state," the statement added.
