A security team led by Senior Superintendent of Police Ramesh Kumar Basnet from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office apprehended him on Friday, in accordance with a directive issued by the Butwal Bench of the High Court, Tulsipur. He was taken into custody from Budhanilkantha, Kathmandu.

Earlier today, a division bench comprising Justices Ramesh Dhakal and Swikriti Parajuli ordered Lamichhane's remand to police custody for investigation into his alleged involvement in a cooperative fund fraud case.
