KATHMANDU, APRIL 29

The House of Representatives meeting this afternoon was disrupted shortly after it began, as opposition lawmakers stood in protest, demanding discussion on issues of urgent public concern.

Following the protest, Speaker Devraj Ghimire allowed CPN (Maoist Centre) Chief Whip Hitraj Pandey to speak. Pandey urged the House to immediately deliberate on the resolution registered on Monday concerning the demands of agitating teachers. He called on the Speaker to issue a ruling to prioritize the discussion and seek a resolution within the day.

CPN-UML Chief Whip Mahesh Bartaula supported the need for dialogue, stating the government was serious about addressing the teachers' concerns. 'The Education Minister has been holding continuous talks with teacher representatives. I am hopeful of a breakthrough by this evening,' he said.

Meanwhile, lawmaker Prem Ale demanded an impartial investigation into alleged financial irregularities at Pokhara and Bhairahawa International Airports.

Raising another issue, MP Shova Gyawali expressed concern over the growing number of wild animal attacks across the country and called on authorities to take immediate action.

Lawmaker Gyan Bahadur Shahi also pressed the government to take the teachers' demands seriously and respond with urgency.
