Three killed, four injured after bus hits pedestrians in Makawanpur

KATHMANDU, MAY 27

Three people died and four others were injured in a road accident at Thaha Municipality–3 along the Tribhuvan Highway in Makawanpur district on Monday evening.

According to police, a passenger bus (Ba 3 Kha 5990) en route to Thana Bazaar from Bajrabarahi Gopali village suffered a brake failure and went out of control, hitting seven pedestrians near the Nepal Electricity Authority office.

The deceased have been identified as Krishna Balami (approx. 40), Lokendra Kumar Thakur (38), and Raghunandan Yadav of Aurahi Rural Municipality–1 in Siraha district. The addresses of the two other deceased individuals are yet to be confirmed.

One of the seriously injured is undergoing treatment at the Trauma Center in Kathmandu, while the remaining victims are being treated at the Palung Primary Health Center.

The bus driver, Rajesh Karki (29) of Thaha–5, Basanta, has been taken into police custody for investigation.
