Seven cases of malaria have been reported in Chitwan district so far this fiscal year, according to the District Public Health Office.

The cases were identified from 7,989 suspected individuals tested at the health office. According to the office, most of the infected had recently returned from overseas employment. Last year, 10 cases were reported.

Malaria mainly affects individuals over the age of 15 and is transmitted through the bite of infected female Anopheles mosquitoes. Common symptoms include fever, headache, vomiting, and fatigue.

The office also advised maintaining clean surroundings and using mosquito nets to prevent infection.
