UAE Delegation Meets Minister Gurung, Offers Cooperation on Security Printing

KATHMANDU, JULY 2

The representatives of the UAE Government's Oumolat Security Printing Press called on Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, on Wednesday.

During the meeting held at the Ministry, Minister Gurung briefed the delegation on the current status and future plans of Nepal's Security Printing Centre.

He mentioned that the centre, which had remained without a head for the past three years, recently appointed an Executive Director following his assumption of office. Under his leadership, the printing process has now been initiated.

Minister Gurung further shared that the government has allocated a budget of Rs 6 billion for the printing of passports, citizenship certificates, and banknotes at the centre. Additionally, the printing of smart driving licenses is currently in progress.

The delegation of general managers from the UAE Printing Press expressed interest in cooperating with the Government of Nepal on printing machine technology.

In response, Minister Gurung welcomed their remarks and assured that any decision regarding collaboration would be made at an appropriate time.
